We will have an update from Comcast’s Mark Francisco on ongoing efforts to advance inclusivity forward with Comcast products and services, including audio initiatives for enhanced accessibility. Additionally, we will look at developments in the deployment by European broadcasters of object-based personalization and accessibility features, which leverage next generation audio systems, along with advances in establishing open serial ADM metadata standards for object audio.

In transitioning from linear broadcast to streamed distribution of live content, the rigid ATSC standards-based rules for audio shift to a more fluid model that can accommodate more devices and multiple concurrent audio streams and codecs, but where ad hoc practices do not guarantee consistent quality or support for the original program format. We will examine how dynamic adaptive streaming works and discuss the implications for audio in both the opportunities it creates and the manner in which current practices can fall short.
