CISO

John McClure is the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for the Sinclair Broadcast Group providing strategic leadership for Sinclair’s enterprise information security program. He is responsible for creating and executing the information security program to identify and manage risk across the enterprise that allows Sinclair to quickly and securely innovate and deliver services and content to their partners and customers. McClure leads all aspects of Sinclair’s information security risk program reporting to Sinclair’s Executive Leadership Team and Board.

Prior to joining Sinclair in 2021, McClure served as the Global CISO for Laureate Education, focused on securing and supporting Laureate’s global footprint of universities and large student base – primarily located in the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. He led large and diverse security teams around the globe supporting all information security functions while ensuring data and network security functions met regional privacy and regulatory requirements.

Before supporting the commercial market, McClure spent over 20 years supporting the federal government – providing secure infrastructure and information security mission support to the Intelligence Community. He last supported the federal government working for the Office of Government-wide Policy assisting in creating meaningful cybersecurity policy for the U.S. Government.

McClure is a military veteran (Army Aviation, Black Hawk crew chief) who served with both the 101st Airborne Division (Ft. Campbell, KY) and the 5/17th Air Cavalry (South Korea) domestically and overseas during his almost nine-years of active service.

He holds a M.S. in information systems technology from George Washington University and has various information security and leadership certifications.

McClure lives in Middle River, MD.
