Mark Grant joined CBS Sports in 1998 and serves as a director for CBS Sports and CBS Sports Network. He covers college basketball, including the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship, the NFL, college football, and golf.

Grant is a five-time Emmy Award-winner and has also been honored with three ACE Awards for excellence in cable television production.

A 42-year veteran, Grant has been a trailblazer in the industry, becoming the first African-American director at both CBS and ESPN. On November 1, 2020, Grant directed the Los Angeles Chargers-Denver Broncos game on CBS alongside producer Kimani Morales, marking the first time that an NFL telecast was led by both an African-American producer and director. Earlier this month, he directed the inaugural HBCU All-Star game in New Orleans.

Grant was a driving force behind CBS Sports’ “8:46” campaign, which he helped create, execute, and produce in the wake of the murder of George Floyd. The “8:46” campaign featured personal stories from many of CBS Sports’ Black voices spread out across eight minutes and 46 seconds discussing their experiences on being Black in America.

A 1981 graduate in broadcast journalism from LSU, Grant is a member of the LSU Manship School of Mass Communication Hall of Fame, and was recently inducted into the Hall of Distinction at LSU.

Recently, Grant was promoted to the lead director for NCAA basketball. In that role, he will direct the biggest games on CBS, including the Final Four.

Prior to joining CBS Sports, Grant spent 11 years at ESPN. He started his career in local cable television, covering city council and school board meetings, high school sports, parades, and other community events.
